Happy Holidays

Crone - Signifying a woman of a “certain age” who embodies all her life’s wisdom, knowledge, experience, and love.
“As I grieve the loss of Nelson’s inspirational spirit and negotiate life’s journey without him, I find a powerful form of art and expression in my daily conceptualizing and personal presentation of my own form of body art…”

Impressed by her sense for an authentic style and her creative confidence, we have been following Judith a.k.a. Style Crone for quite some time. Her blog is dedicated to “the older woman in her most creative, outrageous, authentic, powerful, adventurous, funny and proud era” (love!). In that fashion, her outfits never cease to surprise and inspire a joy for fashion and dressing up: She combines modern pieces with vintage finds, wonderful jewelry with fantastic hats, and models everything beautifully herself. Last but not least, her writing is always encouraging a zest for life, a celebration and exploration of one’s “inner crone”.

Judith lost her beloved husband of 32 years in 2005. She writes: “As I grieve the loss of Nelson’s inspirational spirit and negotiate life’s journey without him, I find a powerful form of art and expression in my daily conceptualizing and personal presentation of my own form of body art…”

We had the pleasure of finally meeting Judith in person at our seasonal Curate party last fall. It was wonderful to connect with her - she has such an uplifting yet humble energy and was of course styled perfectly in a Xenia Dress, combined with over-the-knee black boots, a charming black hat and a vintage Chanel chain bag. One of the designers we represent, Igor Dobranic from IGOR, was immediately inspired. A tulle dress from his recently designed Spring/Summer 2019 collection came to mind as the perfect fit for Judith. She layered it over her Xenia dress, and it was truly a perfect fit. We documented the process of Igor styling Judith for your enjoyment. We couldn’t but gift Judith the piece - she was wearing it with her outfit during the duration of the whole party and looked simply stunning. Judith aka Style Crone surprised us with a beautiful blog post just before Christmas featuring the bespoke IGOR tulle dress.

She writes: “I’ve been saving this cherished tulle dress by IGOR for the perfect occasion.  Because I view it as festive, the holidays were the carefully chosen time to showcase its beauty.  I look forward to wearing this treasure in the future during times of celebration or whenever I choose to adorn myself with whimsical tulle on any given day.”

IGOR Spring/Summer 2019 styles will be delivered to our wholesale customers in February and March.

Judith is wearing the tulle dress by IGOR with: vintage Schiaparelli turban – gifted; velvet cape lined with satin – NYC boutique; vintage jewelry, long fingerless gloves, and vintage YSL patent leather belt – estate sales; pattens leather heeled boots – retail sale; underlying layer of tulle – retail sale.
